Experimented with both camera and newly received half inch extender.

Focus:

  • ASI 290 + 1’’ ring + 0.5’’ ring + FR => could only achieved focus by removing one of the focuser extension rings [focuser at 1.3 cm] [sensor to FR lens ~48 mm]

  • ASI 385 + nose piece + 0.5’’ ring + FR => could not achieve focus

  • ASI 385 + nose piece + FR => could only achieved focus by removing both of the focuser extension rings [focuser at 1.8 cm] [sensor to FR lens 42 mm]

Notes on ASI385:

  • Larger field of view

  • Could stack with more ease (not sure about this one)

  • Seems to pick up less details at the same exposure, maybe the higher f-stop(without processing?)

  • Not showing colors for chosen targets (without processing?)

  • Fit seems less secure

Observations:

  • Could not find/see IC444 (reflection Nebula) - Gemini

  • M41 (Little Beehive Cluster) - Canis Major

  • M81 (Bode’s Galaxy) - Ursa Major

  • M82 (Cigar Galaxy) - Ursa Major

  • M51 (Whirlpool Galaxy) - Canes Venatici

  • M94 (Croc’s Eye Galaxy) - Canes Venatici

  • NGC 4490 (Cocoon Galaxy) and NGC 4485 - Canes Venatici
