First light with the 294MC

Just got the ASI ZWO 294MC. I have also ordered but nor received a 2" focal reducer so I used the 1.25" focal reducer and it produced very noticeable vignetting.

I varied the distance between sensor and focal reducer but could not get rid of vignetting. I tried different nose piece lengths and used the reported pixel scale on nova.astrometry.net to calculate how much the focal was reduced: 0.48x, 0.63x, 0.77x.

The greater the FR, the larger the "vignetting disc". At 0.48x, it occupied about half the height of the frame. Needless to say, I could not get good images.

Observations:

  • M45 Pleiades
  • M31 Andromeda Galaxy and M32
  • C23 Silver Sliver Galaxy Andromeda - no picture
  • M1 Crab Nebula - no picture
M31 and M32 (no FR)
